Creole Classic Fishing Tournament - 1st Weekend After Father's Day

About the Creole Classic

The idea of a fishing tournament came about 20 years ago when several fisherman who had camps at the BBY Marina in Leeville were sitting around one afternoon drinking beer (who says drinking beer destroys brain cells)and decided that a competition among themselves and anyone else who wanted to fish, sounded like the makings for a fun week-end. The name Creole Classic was decided upon, and the rest is history!

It's first chairman was Bobby "BBY" Bourg and for the first few years was held at his marina which bears his name. Only 2 members of the original board still remain active since the early days - Bobby "BBY" Bourg and Ed "QBA" Rodriguez. Both men have served as Chairman several Times.

The first tournament had 32 registered fisherman. After 3 years, in 1987, the popularity of the Creole Classic caused its headquarters to be moved to Bridgeside Marina in Grand Isle.

The Creole Classic fishing tournament has evolved into one 1 of the "Premier" fishing tournaments on the island, drawing thousands of fishing enthusiasts and those who come for the "Party" to the island each June.

The concept of the rodeo has never changed since its first year. A "fun" family oriented tournament whose funds are donated to worthy charities.

"New Blood" coming into the board of directors as new members, has increased the enthusiasm and "Idea Pool" which promises to keep the Creole Classic a viable rodeo for many years to come.

The committee members would like to invite ya'll to our annual Fishing Tournament. As always our event is family oriented, full of fun, and open to anyone wishing to participate. Your participation and sponsorship is greatly appreciated and welcome.

Thursday Night, June 19

A kick-off party will be held under the Pavilion at Bridge Side Marina.

Friday Night, June 20

Scale opens at 2:00 pm, and closes at 6:00 pm. At 6:00 pm, seafood meal will be served to ticket holders. Everyone come party under the pavilion at Bridge Side Marina and Cabins with music by "Diversionz". "Door Prizes" will be given away to ticket holders. (Must be present to win)

Saturday Afternoon, June 21

Scale opens at 12 Noon, closes at 5:00 pm sharp.

Starting at 5:00 pm, a free fish fry will be provided for ticket holders. Also, listen for your name to be called for "Door Prizes". (Must be present to win)

Come bid high at our Annual Charity Auction. Great items up for bid with 100% of highest bid going to our charities.

At 6:00 pm the fishing category prizes will be awarded to the winners.

After the awards, stay to celebrate and party while dancing to the sounds of "Good Feelings"
